This black and white photograph presents the iconic figure of Muriel, the longest running owner and front-lady of The Colony Club in side profile. Francis Bacon was a founding member, walking in the day after it opened in 1948. He was "adopted" by Belcher as a "daughter". Michael Clark: When Ian told Francis how ill Muriel was, he wept. It was the only time I ever saw Francis cry.
