Jacqueline Roque held immense influence as Pablo Picasso's final muse, serving as the subject of over 400 artworks during the last two decades of his life. His portrayal of Jacqueline in the mid-1950s was more classically drawn and reminiscent of Ingres than previous movements, giving way to his late style's transformation. Her presence marked what biographer John Richardson called Picasso's 'L'Époque Jacqueline.'
The first State of this Lithograph was made in 1957. A year later, on Saturday January 10, 1959, the painter returns to take the plate to add a dark shadow on the left side of the drawing. This new plate is also commercially edited with paper of the same size and quality.
